- Does your propellor ventilate (slip) when you hit wakes or encounter heavy seas? There are many reasons this could be happening. One is an Outboard that is mounted too high on the transom. Another reason could be a speed transducer or fish finder set too close to the prop, causing turbulence which in turn disrupts the flow of water to the propellor and causes it to slip.
- One good way to help alleviate this problem is to have your local prop shop put some "cup" in the trailing edge of the propellor blades.
- Cupping your prop allows it to hold onto the water better and raises the point at which your prop will lose it's hold on the water and ventilate (slip).
- Happy Boating!!!
